Story
Alexandru and Alexandra decided to take the family name Atanasiu, after the maiden name of Alexandra’s grandmother. A landowner in Bărăgan, of Greek nationality, she was dispossessed by the communists in the ’60s. The couple’s bond to Greece is powerful through other means as well. Their wedding godparents are Greek, and the wedding ceremony took place in Greece.
Alfa & Omega
Design
I let details from their story inspire me when I designed the wedding rings. Their first initial A and the earth representing the lands taken. The letter, found in both their names brought to mind the first symbol of the Greek alphabet, Alpha and then, obviously, Omega came to mind.
Ergo, the finished pieces describe those symbols. One side of the ring, Alpha inscribed on it, the other, Omega.
